Senate featuring current Senator Russell against current Governor Talmadge culminates in Griffin, Georgia where Russell gives "the greatest speech of his career" according to Ralph McGill. Russell threatened to make a Democrat out of "ol' Republican Gene," tore the governor up for calling the CCC a bunch of "bums and loafers," and denied Talmidge's claim that Russell had befriended northern blacks

August 26, 2007 Warner Robbins team wins Little League World Series, defeating Japan by a score of 3-2. It marked the second consecutive year the championship had been won by a team from Georgia.
