Eddie Rickenbacker was flying from New York to Atlanta on a Douglas DST Silversleeper when it crashed outside of Atlanta. Nine people in the plane were killed, eight injured. Rickenbacker, severely injured, lay trapped in the wreckage overnight. He was taken to Piedmont Hospital the next day. |
