March 21, 1781 Battle of Beattie's Mill. Elijah Clarke attacks Major Dunlap , whose men (75 British Dragoons) retreat to a mill and nearby houses to form a defensive line. After battling for hours, Dunlap surrenders. He had been mortally wounded and was near death.
