March 31, 1751 Frederick Louis dies, St. Martin's, London
March 31, 1774 Head Turkey, a Creek on the way to Savannah to negotiate a peace treaty is murdered near Augusta by Thomas Fee. Fee would later escape jail, but Royal governor Wright's offer of a $100 reward appeases the Creek

March 31, 1850 John Calhoun dies, Washington, D. C. from tuberculosis.

March 31, 1867 General John Pope arrives by train to the city of Atlanta, marking the second occupation of both Atlanta and Georgia
March 31, 1956 After meeting Red Foley at Bell Auditorium in Augusta, Brenda Lee appeared as a guest star on his Ozark Mountain Jubillee, Foley's national television show.

March 31, 1986 First Union acquires Citizens Dekalb Bank of Clarkston, Georgia
  Wachovia and First Union Banks
March 31, 1992 U. S. Supreme Court rules, in Freeman v. Pitts, dismissal of a 1969 ruling ordering the Dekalb County (GA.) School System to bus students to desegregate schools. The dismissal came because the schools had been integrated.
