Name derivation:Named in honor of Thomas Glascock, an Augusta lawyer and politician who served as an officer during the War of 1812 and was promoted to Brigadier General and put in charge of the Volunteers during the Seminole War. He served in the Georgia House, including two terms as Speaker, and in the U. S. House of Representatives.
