April 6, 1935 Brown Thrasher designated the state bird by decree of Governor. Legislature made it official in 1970
April 8, 1935 Gene Sarazen mowed down Craig Wood in a play-off match for the top prize of $1,500 in the August National Golf club's second annual invitation tournament.
June 26, 1935 Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is created. The bill, which included an initial appropriation of $100,000 was sponsored by Representative Malcolm C. Tarver and Senator Richard B. Russell
